Tested for VOC's & Off-Gassing
All of the Crawl Space Encapsulation® vapor barrier we sell independently tested for volatile organic compounds and off-gassing. We test all of our vapor barrier at an independent lab, K&N Labs, Inc., in Minnesota. Every roll can be connected back to a test certificate, so you can trust that the vapor barrier in your crawl space is Tested Pure™.
Why Test?
Over the past 15 years there have been concerns about post crawl space encapsulation® odors in crawl spaces being caused by the vapor barrier. There has been a lot of speculation about a possible connection between polyester string-reinforced vapor barrier and crawl space odors, off-gassing and volatile organic compounds. This speculation was created by suppliers who have been rejected by string-reinforced vapor barrier manufactures. The suppliers use this false information as leverage, to disparage string-reinforced vapor barrier and fill homeowners with a baseless fear of off-gassing, odors and VOC's. This has created a problem for crawl space professionals who offer polyester string-reinforced vapor barrier as an install option, but we are here to change that!
Our goal is to educate the homeowner and installer on Tested Pure™ crawl space vapor barriers, off-gassing, crawl space odors and VOC's. We do this by providing proof of our crawl space encapsulation® vapor barriers being tested. This proof will help grow revenue for installers and give homeowners peace of mind.
Some suppliers offer a verbal commitment that, in the event that their products produce an odor, they will replace it with more of their product. However, that is a bandaid on the issue and does not offer a permanent solution. We here at CrawlSpaceRepair.com®, LLC take a different approach. We send vapor barrier directly to an independent lab to have it tested for odors caused by VOC's. This test is done on every of vapor barrier manufactured. The results are provided in a certificated from the lab, that gives approval for the crawl space vapor barrier to continue to the packaging line, to be added to available inventory. Each roll we produce is tracked with a CSRID number and that CSRID number is connected to the results on the proper lab certificate.
If you would like a copy of the lab certificate results for a roll of vapor barrier you previously purchased, or you are interested in purchasing just let us know. If you have a problem with a post crawl space encapsulation® odor after installation of any of our crawl space repair® vapor barrier, we will at no charge to you have it retested to determine the cause and help to find a solution. The process is simple. All you will need to do is contact our office to confirm the vapor barrier roll information, provide a 10" x 10" sample of the affected crawl space vapor barrier and ship it to our Greenwood, SC office. We will then send it directly to the lab for testing. Once the lab has completed the testing, we will send you the results at no cost to you. This re-test aids in revealing the true cause of the crawl space odor, so that the odor can be eliminated at the source, resulting in you having a happy homeowner.
